LEGO Skylines Buildings Ranking
What the press kit actually named — ranked by first-city value, not by how tall it looks in the trailer.
The building list for LEGO Skylines is still a press-kit list. That is enough to rank first-city value. It is not enough to publish stats. This page is the toy box: what to place, what to leave pad space for, and what is still a poster.
Pair it with how to build for method and services for the utilities those buildings drink.
S — place on the first street
Houses / cozy homes. The game starts here. Homes that one-up the neighbors are a happiness line, not a late flex. Variant and decorate; do not stamp twenty clones.
Shops / quirky stores. Favorite goods imply demand. A street without a shop is a cul-de-sac. Keep it small.
Parks. Named as unwind space. Cheap identity. Early rating food. The happiness guide treats them as required, not cosmetic.
A — place as soon as the street works
Bakeries and donut shops. The canonical joke and a production sink. Wheat is on the service list, so a bakery is more than a prop.
Hospitals. “Keep everyone in one piece.” Health plus comfort. Unlock-gated, then immediate.
Job buildings. Good jobs are in the copy. We do not have office versus factory names. Leave a workplace plot next to homes even if the prefab is still generic.
B — growth rewards, not hour-one toys
Museums and cultural buildings. “Turn your city into a cultural capital” is a later sentence. Place when the rating allows and the first street already lives.
Sports arenas. Same paragraph as museums. Landmark energy. Needs a crowd you have not grown yet.
Farms / wheat fields. Required for the donut loop, optional for a downtown fantasy. Strong on a farm-town save.
C — wait, or treat as decoration budget
Decorations and clutter. Not low value — they are the LEGO identity, and as of the IGN interview they feed XP. They should still not beat a water building. Dress lots after the triad; then dress them on purpose.
Ice Tower. Newsletter reward for a future skyline. Not a first-house substitute. See DLC.
Skyscraper clusters. The trailer loves height. Unlock language says you earn the toy box. A skyline on plot two is a screenshot that will fight every service radius later.
Unconfirmed — not in the table
BrickLink Studio custom buildings, interior furniture, licensed landmark packs, and Workshop assets. None of those are FAQ items. If a listicle ranks “custom MOCs S-tier,” they are ranking a wish.
How to read a screenshot
Official shots show prefab buildings with strong silhouettes, bright palettes, and minifigure-scale streets. That supports a placement-and-dress loop more than a CAD loop. Plan your first city as lots you can swap, not as a single megastructure. The walkthrough leaves an undesigned plot on purpose.
When costs exist, we will add a second column for price-per-happiness. Until then, if two buildings compete for a plot, pick the one that feeds a named system: sleep, work, food, health, or identity. Everything else is a poster.
When a diary names actual unlock costs, revisit this ranking before you copy a YouTuber skyline. A hospital that is cheap stays A. A museum that is gated stays B. Until then, treat every tall brick as a growth toy and every house, shop, and park as hour-one work. That is the whole ranking discipline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers while LEGO Skylines is still in the wishlist window.
What is the best first building in LEGO Skylines?
A house on the first plot, then a shop and a park. Landmarks wait. See how to build.
Are hospitals buildings or services?
Both. They are placed buildings that provide a service. Ranked here as a structure; coverage notes sit on services.
Should I save a plot for the Ice Tower?
If you subscribed, yes — a skyline pad, not the first house. Details on DLC.
Will custom LEGO buildings be in at launch?
Unconfirmed. Do not block your plan on Studio import.
