LEGO Skylines does not have a score yet because nobody has a build. What we have is a 43-second trailer, a press kit, a FAQ, and a studio with a complicated assignment. This page is a preview for people trying to decide whether to wishlist or wait. It is not a substitute for a launch review. When a hands-on exists, the middle of this article will change; the questions will not.

What the announcement gets right
The fantasy is obvious and overdue. LEGO is a construction toy. A city-builder is the genre that should have worn those bricks years ago. Iceflake’s Lasse Liljedahl talks like someone who actually built sets, not like a brand deck. The trailer shows minifigures in the street, not only a plastic skyline from a helicopter. That is the difference between a skin and a toy.
The pitch is also kinder than Cities: Skylines II’s launch reputation. Cozy, customizable, PEGI 3, ESRB Everyone, made with adults in mind but easy to sit beside a younger player. If you bounced off traffic hell, this is the fork in the road. If you wanted that hell, this is not your sequel. Paradox said the quiet part: it is not Cities: Skylines III and it is not DLC.
The studio question you should not ignore
Iceflake Studios took over Cities: Skylines II after Colossal Order was removed. They are also making LEGO Skylines. Comment sections asked how a relatively small team supports both. That is a fair product question, not a pile-on. A cozy announcement does not erase a live-service city sim that still needs work. Wishlist if the toy excites you. Do not pre-order loyalty into a calendar that does not exist. Pre-orders are not open. Nintendo currently lists 2027; Paradox has not.

What is still vapor until a diary
Controls, budget, traffic, disasters, multiplayer, cross-saves, BrickLink Studio import, story mode, DLC slate beyond “paid and free later.” Building scale is no longer vapor: one building at a time, bigger brush later, XP from decorating or efficiency. Early verdict
Wishlist if the trailer made you grin. Wait for a 15-minute gameplay drop if you were burned by simulation launches. LEGO Skylines looks like the right idea in the right genre with the right toy license. Ideas are not systems. Iceflake still has to prove the click lasts past the donut joke.
